Most "Beginner Classes" Miss the Mark
Too Fast
The coaching is rushed, everyone already knows what they're doing, and you spend the whole class trying to keep up. You leave feeling behind before you've even started. Most people don't come back after that.
Too Slow
Everything is stripped down so much it stops feeling useful. You're not being challenged. You're not learning anything that sticks. After a few classes you start wondering what you're actually getting out of it.
Most adults don't want to feel overwhelmed or intimidated. But they also don't want to feel like they're wasting their time. The right balance between those two things is harder to find than it should be, but it is what makes Hybrid so different.
The Right Balance Between Comfort and Challenge
Built for adults who want to start martial arts the right way.
You learn proper technique and safety first, with clear instruction and a pace that actually makes sense. No confusion, intimidation, or cliqueness that makes you feel unwelcomed like you walked into the wrong room.
And at the same time, you'll be pushed. In a good way. Each class is designed to help you improve. You leave knowing you worked hard, learned something real, and improved in a meaningful way.
You go from nervous and unsure to capable and confident. We have adults who have signed up by their second class because they could feel the difference in the instruction and community that they didn't feel elsewhere.
Three Steps to Your First Class
Book Your Free Class
No commitment, no gear, no experience needed. Pick a time that works and we'll handle the rest. The booking takes about two minutes.
Walk In and Have Fun
This is the hardest part and where most people let their nerves get the best of them. Showing up is 50% of success. You won't be thrown into class and expected to know what to do. Every step is explained, and you can ask questions at any point.
Sweat Smile and Learn
At the end of every class we have one goal - SSL. Did you sweat? Did you smile? Did you learn something? By the end of your first class, we can guarantee you will do all three.
Most people walk out of their first class thinking, "I should have done this a long time ago."
Josh makes it real for the class members… he has us actually get into situations with teammates so that we know how to handle ourselves both physically and mentally for when it's real.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Kurt Smith, Adult Student
Week after week, we learn different techniques from various forms of martial arts all while sticking with the basic fundamentals. Transitioning to Hybrid Martial Arts has been, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we’ve made.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Amy Cook, Family of Four that trains at Hybrid
"I'm a 53-year-old male. Life gets in the way and before you know it, 30 years has passed. Hybrid Martial Arts has given me the opportunity to get active again at my own pace. Wish I had started 30 years ago."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Andrew Jamison, Adult Student
What Happens When You Find the Right Environment

“As someone who has never tried martial arts before coming here, I have had an incredible learning experience. I knew after one class that I would be signing up. Not only is everyone who attends extremely kind and helpful, the coaching is next level. Attending classes has given me the structure and discipline I was lacking in my fitness.”
- Kirstyn Pierce, Adult Student
We've Heard It Before
I'm worried I won't be able to keep up.
You won't be thrown into anything too fast. We guide you step by step and the pace is set to where you are.
I don't want something that's too easy.
You'll be challenged. Every class is designed to push you, just in a way that's smart and sustainable. People leave here sweating and smiling.
I've never done anything like this before.
That's exactly who these classes are built for. Most people who join us have zero experience. We start there and build from it.
I'm nervous to try.
That's completely normal. And you have to start somewhere! That is the hardest part. We have a student who sat in their car because they were too nervous to come in. They signed up on day 2 :)
“I am absolutely loving every moment on the mat at Hybrid Martial Arts! Each class is as informative as it is challenging. You sweat, you learn, and you smile every time. Coach Josh mixes Martial Arts knowledge with top-notch fitness coaching and turns you into a well-rounded martial arts athlete. All the while, the people around you genuinely support and cheer you on. Highly recommend!!”
- Phil Imbesi, Adult Student

Frequently Asked Questions
Before You Walk In You May Have Questions
-
While we do spar, it is probably not what you are thinking. We do what is called “technical sparring” when you are first starting. It is safe, slower, and very controlled. The point of sparring is not to get hurt. It is to help build your confidence in your defense and that only happens when it is done safely and in a controlled way.
-
Josh and Lauren will introduce you to every person in the room before class starts. You won't be thrown into anything you're not ready for. Most people who were anxious before their first class sign up within the first two visits. Your goal on your first class is to have fun, feel comfortable, and learn something new.
-

Absolutely! It can definitely make your first day a lot less intimidating when you are training with a friend. We find students that do bring a friend their first class are definitely more comfortable and relaxed because they are with someone they are familiar with to start.
